Contemplating the Future

There always feels like there’s so much going on. Over the last few months hasn’t been any different, of course. I got the chance to meet Ryan “Uselesswizard,” from TikTok at a small brand new convention here in the PDX metro where he was teaching classes. I didn’t know about the con until the last minute, otherwise I might’ve tried to get into one of his classes. Even just meeting him for a minute at the Mindtaker bits box was cool, though. He was friendly and engaging, and humored my socially awkward self with a few stupid questions and was kind enough to ask about the game. I hope next time I have the pleasure of bumping into him I’m a little less awkward.

I also got to go to Mindtaker Miniatures up in Vancouver, WA this week. They’ve got a fantastic store up there and if you get the chance to check it out, I highly recommend it. The selection of older minis is the main draw, but they also have game books, the bits trough, boxes and boxes and boxes of sprues. Cal and I spent around three hours there and easily could’ve spent another three and still not seen everything.

Moving on from that, I’m still dealing with ongoing health issues. The next couple of months have the potential to be fairly slow with S.E.E.R. progress. Though, I am trying to make up for that by getting some other playtesting stuff in place. If you’re interested in playtesting, message me on one of the socials! It likely won’t be overnight, but I’ll get back to you.

In better news, Nathan and I are making a lot of progress on the setting and background of the Fylaxian Galaxy. The Terran Reclamation is getting fleshed out some more. We’ve also added a couple of new factions now that we’re working with the model ranges from “ThatEvilOne." I’m looking forward to getting more written for them. You can check out the painting and modeling progress on them over on TikTok and Instagram. I’m especially pleased with how a couple of the paint schemes and new painting techniques have worked out. I’m planning to post about my new favorite over on TikTok in the next few days. I’ve got the video mostly edited and I just need to do the voiceover.

We also made some adjustments to the balance of higher TL melee combat. As it was, with the number of models higher TL rosters feature, it just wasn’t possible to bring enough lethality to the table to actually win most game types unless the roster features the more high rate of fire or single shot kill ranged weapons. So we had to buff that a touch. More options to make melee combat at higher TL more impactful. Now we just need a chance to playtest it!

That about wraps up for me tonight. The next update will probably be in a few weeks.
