Good Grief.

Well, 2024 is going out much like it came in. Kicking, Screaming, and generally giving everyone a headache. On the upside, we’re getting back to something close to normalcy around the house. The facility where I was working my day job is closing, so I’ve been laid off. That means more time to spend on developing the game as I’m job hunting. Nathan and I are working on more fiction for the third part of the book. Somedays, the writing is slower than others, but we are making progress again. If anyone happens to know a place looking for a long term remote IT manager/IT project manager, send us a message!

Really though, everything is going to be fine. We’ve got a bit of a safety net and some resources that are going to help a lot. I won’t dwell on this too much as I know this isn’t the kind of content that this blog is here for, but over the last few months, this is why you haven’t heard or seen anything from us. Had to get our proverbial ducks in a row.

As for game development, we’re refocusing on the fluff and fiction for the setting again. More time to spend on getting the writing done. We’re still working on a few balance things, but I think the last set of changes we made have brought the melee side of the game back into balance with the ranged side and they seem to be fairly even again. There are a few other things we want to work on, like mechanics for co-op and solo play, campaign rules, and things of that nature. But, I think those are going to be put off for future publication and the core rulebooks are going to be what they are right now, save balance tweaks as we find issues over the next few months. I’m loath to try and stamp a date for publishing/sale anywhere publicly facing just yet because I seriously don’t know what that timeline looks like, especially as the publishing and distribution side comes into the picture. I’m not going to rush the game out early and have it be busted. If we’ve learned anything from this whole process, it’s that rushing out something half-assed will only result in failure. We have a solid game idea and rules, and I’m not going to push something I’m not proud of out the door.

More updates to come soon!
